The midfielder discusses the team’s season so far

Frenkie de Jong has been talking about Barcelona’s disappointing start to the season and thinks things are being blow out of all proportion.

The Catalan giants head into the international break down in ninth place in the table and in real trouble in the Champions League after opening up with two straight 3-0 defeats.

De Jong knows results have not been good but insists there is a long way to go and still a lot of football to be played.

“It’s being exaggerated a lot, we’re not in a rut. The results are bad, no one can ignore that,” he said.

“You can note a negative feeling around the club, which makes sense when you have bad results at a club like Barcelona. I’m disappointed, but I’m not down.

“It’s good we have the break now, if we go back to Barcelona games after the international games I think we could return to normality.

“People are exaggerating when they say the season is already a write-off. We don’t have that many fewer points than Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, and there are a lot of games left to play.

“So, nothing is lost, not at all. We started badly in the Champions League, but we still have every chance.”

De Jong also spoke about his own performances and offered a typically honest assessment of his outings so far. The Netherlands international admitted he’s “not in the best form of my life” but added he feels he’s “not been that bad either.”
