More domination from the Catalan giants
Barcelona Femeni have a host of players nominated for the 2021 Women’s Ballon d’Or following a phenomenal year for the team.
Alexia Putellas, Lieke Martens, Jenni Hermoso, Irene Paredes, and Sandra Panos have all made it onto the shortlist of 20 players up for the award. Unsurprisingly, no women’s team has more candidates up for the award than Barcelona.

FC Barcelona Femení also dominated the recent UEFA awards back in August with Alexia taking home the Women’s Player of the Year award, while Hermoso and Martens completed the top three.
It would be no surprise to see Alexia add the Women’s Ballon d’Or to her extensive trophy cabinet after playing a leading role in last season’s incredible treble-winning team. She’s also started this season on fire with 10 goals in her last seven games.
The winners of the awards will be announced on November 29.
