The Frenchman was on target again in the Champions League
Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman singled out Ousmane Dembele for praise after Wednesday’s Champions League win over Ferencvaros.
Dembele was back in the starting XI and scored his fourth goal of the season from the penalty spot after Martin Braithwaite had been fouled to make it 3-0.
It was a good performance from the Frenchman, who was handed the captain’s armband in the second half, and Koeman was happy with his performance.
“Dembélé is a great player. He has a lot of quality, he is very fast, one against one, two-footed. The most important thing is that he’s physically doing very well. It’s difficult for a coach to make decisions when Dembélé is playing as he has been playing.
“The big difference lately is how effective we’ve been in front of goal. It’s a pretty significant improvement on the beginning of the season. This is a hungry squad, but we have to keep on demonstrating that.
“We’ve got great resources in attack, you can see that we’ll have a great squad when everyone’s fit. That’s why we’ve been able to rest a few players.”
Dembele has now scored three goals and picked up two assists in just four Champions League outings this season. Only two of those have been as a starter, but there’s no doubt he’s giving Koeman plenty to think about this season.
