The defender also spoke about his own future
Gerard Pique has admitted it will be tough to take if Lionel Messi does decide to end his stay with Barcelona at the end of the season.
Messi’s out of contract and there’s a fair bit of speculation about whether he will decide to stay at the Camp Nou or not.
The captain wanted out last summer but ended up staying because he didn’t want to end up in court, and Pique is crossing his fingers that Messi has changed his mind.
“I think it is a decision that he will make based on the feelings he will have during the year. We know how much he is important as a player and as a person, many of us have a very good relationship with him, as we have been playing together for so many years. It would be very difficult if he left. We hope he can stay, but it’s a decision he has to make.”

The defender also spoke about own future and said he hoped he could keep on playing for “two, three or four more years.” Pique is currently out with a pretty serious knee injury and is not expected back for another few months.
