The latest from the Barcelona boss

Quique Setien faced the press on Thursday ahead of Barcelona’s trip to Sevilla in La Liga in what should be the club’s biggest test since they’ve returned to action.

The Barcelona boss spoke about the club’s injured players, the new format of the Champions League, Arthur’s future and Riqui Puig’s chances of more minutes.

Here are the best bits:

Setien on Sergi Roberto

It’s a pity. We weren’t expecting to lose him. We’ll see how he develops and how his injury progresses. If he can withstand the pain then we will have him gradually back. He held out well against Leganes even though the damage had already been done. We’ll see how he feels. There’s no forecast of when he’ll return, if it’ll be one game or a few. It will depend on how he goes.

Setien on Frenkie de Jong

Frenkie has a niggle that hasn’t quite cleared up yet. Instead of risking him and making it more serious we prefer for him to come back fully fit. We’d rather he missed one than four because the situation got worse.

Setien on Luis Suarez

He’s getting minutes under his belt. You have to bear in mind there are only a few days between games. It’s a process, he’s feeling better all the time. I have to talk to him and see what we decide to do. The way I see it he’s not ready for 90 minutes but we’ll see.

Setien on Arthur

I haven’t spoken to him about this. This isn’t a subject that’s worrying me at the moment. What’s worrying me is that he’s focused, 100 per cent. He has to be focused on the games that remain. That’s really important now for everyone, for him, for me, the club. [His future] is not something that concerns me right now.

Setien on the Champions League format

I think it’s worse for us. Not just for Barca, for everyone. Two games you have the chance to turn things around, now there’s more risk. I think we’d all like to play two legs but the circumstances are what they are and that’s what’s been decided. We have to adapt. We have to prepare and make sure we don’t make mistakes.

Setien on Barca vs Napoli

The game against Napoli we prefer to play at home. If not it would be giving the advantage to the opposition who have played a game at home in front of their fans.

Setien on Riqui Puig

I already congratulated him for his performance, he was very connected and did many things well. It was a shame he did not score. He is training very well and has a very good attitude. If he does what he did the other day then obviously he’ll have more minutes.

Setien on Dembele’s recovery

He’s feeling better all the time. He’s doing the work he needs to do. The injury is developing well. Obviously he’ll need to come back and train with the group first.
