The former Barcelona player could be on the market soon
Thiago Alcântara will be allowed to leave by Bayern Munich, according to a German newspaper. The Spanish international’s contract runs out next year, and although he likes playing in Germany, it seems he is looking for a new challenge.
A return home to Barcelona cannot be ruled out, although there is alleged interest from Liverpool for him. The Catalans let him go after Bayern threatened to trigger his release clause. Thiago re-joined Pep Guardiola in Bavaria, and has stayed there ever since, even after Guardiola left.
It seems no offers have come through for him yet, but he may be available at a relatively cut price considering his contract situation.
Barcelona have been linked with a shake-up in midfield, with Arthur, Ivan Rakitić, and Arturo Vidal said to be possibly leaving soon.
Thiago, 29, would be a short-to-medium term signing, Juventus’s Miralem Pjanić (30 years old) has been mentioned as a possible signing to replace Arthur in the squad, should the latter go to the Italians.
