The club need a win after drawing with Sevilla
Barcelona welcome Athletic to the Camp Nou on Tuesday in a quick return to action after Friday’s disappointing draw at Sevilla.
Quique Setien will be without Sergi Roberto and Frenkie de Jong due to injury, while rotation is very much a theme at the moment after the long lay-off.
Athletic have beaten Barca twice this season already but haven’t won at the Camp Nou since November 2001.
Let’s look at how they might line up:
Defence
Quique Setien looks unlikely to make too many changes at the back. Nelson Semedo should continue at right-back with Roberto out, while Jordi Alba looks set to start on the left.
Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet look the best bet in defence, although Samuel Umtiti is back from suspension and Ronald Araujo is available too if necessary.
Midfield
Midfield is a bit more tricky for Setien with De Jong out for a little while. Ivan Rakitic and Arthur are available and could come in, while Riqui Puig is also an option.
Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal look likely to start again but have featured heavily in the opening three games and may need a breather.
Attack
Luis Suarez played all 90 minutes against Sevilla on Friday which means he may well drop back to the bench on Tuesday.
Antoine Griezmann and Martin Braithwaite will both be hoping for a recall to the starting XI and Setien could also look to Ansu Fati.
Lionel Messi has played 90 minutes in all three games so far but is expected to start again as he goes in search of his 700th career goal.
Possible XI: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; Vidal, Busquets, Arthur; Messi, Griezmann, Ansu.
