Richarlison claims Barcelona made offer in January

And Manchester United were keen too apparently

Richarlison says Barcelona were interested in signing him but Everton didn’t want to sell and he didn’t want to leave midway through the season.

The Brazilian moved to Goodison Park from Watford in the summer of 2018 in a deal worth £50m and has been a hit with the Merseysiders.

He’s netted 10 times in the Premier League this season and reckons both Barcelona and Manchester United tried to sign him during the winter transfer window.

“There were lots of offers during the season, from Barcelona, from Manchester (United),” he said.

“But the club opted to keep me in the group and I didn’t want to leave in the middle of the season. It’s bad to leave team-mates like this.

“Of course you feel impacted, Barcelona is one of the greatest clubs in the world, but I think happiness plays its part as well.”

Sky Sports reported in January that Everton had turned down a bid of €100 million from Barcelona but that rumor was largely rubbished elsewhere, even a Daily Mail reporter called it “nonsense.”
