The Frenchman has had his say
Real Madrid Zinedine Zidane responded to comments by Gerard Pique in his pre-match press conference on Saturday as the title race in Spain hots up.
Pique said after Barca’s draw with Sevilla that he thinks it will be “difficult” for his team to win the league. He also said that he thinks “it’s going to be difficult for Madrid to lose points” after watching the first two matchdays since the competition resumed.
Pique’s remark has been interpreted as a hint that referees have favoured Real Madrid in their wins over Eibar and Valencia but Zidane was having none of it.
“No. I am very direct. I don’t think so. People can say one thing or another. What I am interested in is the game tomorrow. I have my opinion, but I won’t tell you what I think about Pique or anyone.”
“[Barca’s draw] doesn’t change anything. This is our third game, we have talked about playing 11 finals, and we will prepare thinking about giving everything on the pitch and nothing else.”

Valencia had a goal by Rodrigo chalked off against Los Blancos that would have put them 1-0 up. Real Madrid went on to win the game 3-0 on Thursday.
Zidane’s team play away at Real Sociedad on Sunday and know a win will move then level on points with Barca and move them top courtesy of a better head-to-head record.
