Real Sociedad are angry at various decisions that went against them
La Liga has admitted, albeit only internally, that Real Sociedad are right to say they were unjustly denied a goal in a 2-1 loss against Real Madrid, according to a new report.
The win put Madrid atop La Liga, leapfrogging Barcelona in the process.
Adnan Januzaj’s strike from distance sailed into the net with Thibaut Courtois not able to react, but the referee called it off because a teammate was judged to have been standing in an offside position and obstructed the keeper’s vision.
“There were five meters between Courtois and I,” protested Mikel Merino after the match, describing himself as “angry.”
The goal would have put La Real 2-1 up with 20 minutes left.
The report says the club has let their annoyance known internally, although it will refrain from making too many public complaints.
This wasn’t the case of San Sebastián’s Diario Vasco, which had complaints about a few other plays.
Aside from the Januzaj incident, they argued about “a penalty for Vinicius for a fall in front of Llorente in which he does not seem to do anything” and “allowing a goal in which Benzema controlled the ball with his arm.”
It’s fair to say DV was none too impressed with the refereeing. They claim it’s part of a pattern in which “robberies occur in broad daylight and without any shame.”
