Manchester City reportedly agree transfer deal for Barcelona goalkeeper

Barcelona might have just lost one of its most promising players to an European rival.

According to a report from The Telegraph, the Blaugrana have agreed to sell young goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen to Manchester City, with the German set to join Pep Guardiola's new team in the summer. Always according to the rumor, City will pay a €25 million fee to sign the player on a five-year contract.

The rumors of a possible departure of the German keeper started earlier this week when Stegen hinted that he could be looking to move away from the Catalan club after failing to earn more games under coach Luis Enrique for a second straight season, having to sit on the bench during league games while Claudio Bravo plays all domestic matches.

Now we usually would laugh out loud at a report coming from the English press about a Barça player going to the Premier League, but keep in mind this is from the Telegraph. They are not a paper looking to boost its sales with juicy, crazy rumors, instead they prefer to go with strong stories and good reporting.

Guardiola wants a competition for Joe Hart when he arrives at City, and Ter Stegen clearly is not happy at Barça and would likely start in England because of Pep's playing style. It is easy to connect the dots.

For the first time in this Stegen Saga, there is an actual chance of him going away. Oh, dear.
