Barcelona reportedly no longer interested in Everton defender John Stones

You can cross John Stones out of the list.

According to the Daily Mirror, Barcelona have dropped their interest in the young Everton center-back, who has been heavily linked with move to the Catalan giants as well as other big Premier League teams like Chelsea and Manchester City. Two main reasons for Barça to not join the race for Stones, as explained by the Mirror:

The Nou Camp club have been following Barnsley-born Stones for a while as they look to add a quality young centre-back this summer.

But after making local enquiries into the youngster’s personality and temperament, there are sufficient fears over his ability to adapt that Barca will not enter into competition with the Premier League elite for his signature.

Additionally, the price being driven up by the likes of Manchester United, cross-town rivals City and Chelsea means that Stones has become too expensive a risk for the European champions to consider.

Of course, everything that comes from the Daily Mirror has to be taken with several grains of salt. However, there is truth to the rumor. Stones is still developing and becoming a great player, but he is not as sensational this season as he was last season, and the Blaugrana aren't exactly swimming in a pool of money to pay a giant amount for the player.

Even if they want to make a big-money signing, Aymeric Laporte and Marquinhos are better options, and the Catalans are going after them in the summer. So, if you are a John Stones fan, you can watch him in the Premier League. Not Barça.
