Eibar vs Barcelona, 2016 La Liga: Final Score 0-4 as Messi dominates in road win

Barcelona continued its record-setting unbeaten streak on Sunday, reaching 36 straight games without a loss after an eleventh consecutive La Liga triumph, this time winning 4-0 on the road against Eibar, with goals from Munir El-Haddadi, Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi (2). With an efficient, strong performance, the Blaugrana gave little hope to the opposition and had a comfortable victory to maintain their huge advantage at the top of the table.

FIRST HALF

From the start, the visitors had control of possession and were able to find gaps against a poor defensive outing from Eibar. Lionel Messi was in distributor mode, getting heavily involved in the buildup of plays. Throughout the period, Leo continued to control the actions with his ability to dictate the pace with short, accurate passes and pick up runs from his teammates with long balls. In one of those he found Luis Suárez, who gave an easy tap-in to Munir for the opening goal.

The hosts obviously went forward in search of the equalizer and showed good improvement in the latter stages of the first period, but the Catalans were sound on defense and avoided any huge problems. And when the half was coming to a close, Messi completed his fantastic 45 minutes with a beautiful goal on a counter-attack, running alone against the hopeless Eibar defenders and easily slotting the ball to the bottom corner to increase the lead.

At halftime, a good team performance, a good lead, and an even better position to get the job done.

SECOND HALF

The final period was all about keeping possession and maintaining the lead on the road against a tough opponent, without taking any risks in terms of scoring and player fitness. Barça were successful at it, and still got another goal. After a handball from an Eibar defender inside the box, Messi stepped up to the spot and did a Panenka to score the third.

There was more to come, and it happened in fantastic fashion. Luis Suárez nutmegged Capa on the edge of the box and scored a sensational goal to close the show for Barça.

In the end of 90 minutes, a good performance, a high-scoring away victory, and the streak is alive. Without Neymar. This team is good.
