The striker has reacted to the news on social media
Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero has sent out a positive message after being ruled out of action for at least three months after undergoing cardiac tests in hospital.
The Catalans confirmed on Monday that Aguero is set for a lengthy spell out after being “subjected to a diagnostic and therapeutic process”. Aguero’s treatment “will be evaluated in order to determine his recovery process” over the next three months.
The 34-year-old subsequently tweeted a message in response to the news and offered a glimpse into how he’s feeling.
“I am well and in good spirits to face the recovery process,” he wrote. “I want to thank you all for so many messages of support and love that make my heart stronger today.”
Barcelona players including Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Ronald Araujo, Memphis Depay, and Sergio Roberto have all offered messages of support to Aguero on social media after the news broke.
President Joan Laporta also offered his thoughts. He wrote on Twitter, “You have the full support of Barcelona Sergio Aguero! With your character and positivism we will see you back on the field scoring goals.#ForçaKun.”
Get well soon, Sergio Aguero.

The striker will undergo a ‘diagnostic and therapeutic process’
Barcelona have announced that striker Sergio Aguero will miss at least the next three months after undergoing cardiac tests in hospital.

The Argentine was admitted to hospital after being forced off during the first half of Saturday’s La Liga draw with Alaves.
Barca later confirmed Aguero had suffered chest discomfort and would undergo cardiac tests. It was later reported the 33-year-old had been diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia.
The Catalan giants have now offered a fresh update and explained how Aguero will be unavailable for selection for the time being.
“The first team player Sergio Agüero has been subjected to a diagnostic and therapeutic process by Dr.Josep Brugada. He is unavailable for selection and during the next three months the effectiveness of treatment will be evaluated in order to determine his recovery process.
“The Argentine was taken to hospital for cardiological evaluation on Saturday following the Barça v Alavés game in which the Barça striker felt unwell in the first half and was replaced before half time by Philippe Coutinho.”
‘It hurt because I don’t think there was any need to say that’
Lionel Messi’s exit from Barcelona was anything but boring. The last-second drama mostly left us with more questions than answers.
Part of the problem is the lack of visibility into when certain things transpired. That issue has been compounded by recent comments from Joan Laporta.
The Barcelona president said recently he had hoped that Messi would offer to play for free and those comments have not gone down well with the GOAT.
“Never at any moment did they ask me to play for free. They asked me to reduce my salary by 50 per cent and I did it without any problem,” he said.
“We were willing to help the club more. My desire and that of my family was to stay in Barcelona. No one asked me to play for free but at the same time the president’s words were inappropriate.
“It hurt because I don’t think there was any need to say that. It’s like taking the ball off you and not accepting the responsibility or taking charge of things. That makes people think and generates all types of doubts that I don’t think I deserve
“The truth is, as I explained when I left, I did everything possible to stay.”
Messi also made it clear he’s looking forward to coming back to Barca. The forward has admitted he’d love to be technical secretary and also let slip he watches the team “whenever” he can and plans to live back in Barca once his time at PSG is up.

Some good news on the injury front
Any semblance of good news is considered great news in Barcelona land as of late. This week, the news we get to hold onto is that a grouping of Barcelona players who’ve had some knocks are all considered fit for this week’s Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev.
Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele, Frenkie de Jong, and Ronald Araujo have all trained and have the go-ahead to return to matchday fitness.
The four players are all in the squad for the match which Barca must win to have a chance of qualifying for the last 16. The Catalans took all three points in the reverse fixture with Gerard Pique scoring in a 1-0 win at the Camp Nou.
As we’ve seen of late, Barcelona need all the help they can get in the attack. So Dembele and Fati both being fit are fantastic news. De Jong being fit is of obvious help and no one needs me to say how important he is the Barcelona midfield.

Barcelona interim coach Sergi Barjuan has been talking about the team’s Champions League clash against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday.
The 49-year-old spoke about the return of Barca’s injured players, offered quick updates on Sergio Aguero and Philippe Coutinho and the importance of taking all three points.
Here are the best bits:
Barjuan on the Champions League
This is enormous for me. To be the coach in a Champions League match after being a player. The players are under a lot of pressure, tomorrow is special, depending on them. They have everything in their hands. It’s true that they need to be organized, be the Barcelona that we want and hope for.
The great luck that Barça players have is their talent. They are players who are used to any scenario and any kind of pressure. We will be better if we play without anxiety. We will be better if we are calm with the ball, if we know how to find the spaces. Today in training we insisted on the need to be organized and be ourselves, to play with the essence of Barça that we want. Winning tomorrow would help change the mood.
Barjuan on injured players being back
Some of these players come from a very long injury process and want to help us at a time like this is very important. Everyone who is called up has the chance to play. They all need to be aware that the starting XI need to be at the top of their performance.
Barjuan on if it’s a must-win
At Barca you always have to win. To be at the highest level, to stay there, to keep on winning. They all know what’s on the table. And we need to find a way to achieve this victory and to enjoy it and to bring back some positivity and joy to the fans as well.
Barjuan on the atmosphere
I’ve not had many training sessions. They know, we know, the importance of this match. The importance of the three points. But we don’t want to put pressure on the team. I want the opposite, to dream, to find space, to be the Barca we all want.
Barjuan on the team
I’my very proud to be here and represent the club. The fans have to be strong as ever because in these difficult moments is when we feel it most. I think the team is able to face this moment despite the problems we’ve got. Yesterday I was talking to Kun and he is calm. He is in his room, but calm.
Barjuan on Dembele
Recovering players is important for internal competition. That we are recovering players is good, and what we want is that they all contribute their best football. Dembele has been away for a long time and it is appreciated that he wants to be there to help the team.
Barjuan on Coutinho
I have spoken with everyone and I also spoke with Coutinho. I told him that the Camp Nou had also whistled me. In these difficult moments you have to take it easy and be strong. The only way to make yourself strong is to be yourself.
Barjuan on the dressing room
What I have done has been to try to connect with them. I have not seen any lack of anything. There are experienced players who contribute more than young people, but the relationship between the youngsters and veterans is very good.
Barjuan on his job
You would ask a thousand coaches and they would want to be in my position. As cule I wish the best for the club and I am going to try everything I can to solve this situation.

The Catalans are missing several key players
Barcelona are in Ukraine on Tuesday to take on Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.
The Catalan giants enjoyed a narrow 1-0 win over Tuesday’s opponents in the reverse fixture at the Camp Nou and will be hoping for another three points to keep their hopes of qualification alive.
Interim coach Sergi Barjuan will take charge of the team once again but will be without some key players due to injury.
Let’s look at how they might line-up
Defense

Gerard Pique grabbed the winner against Dynamo Kiev last time out but will not feature in this match after picking up a calf injury against Alaves.
Barca are also still without Ronald Araujo due to injury which means it’s likely to be Eric Garcia and Clement Lenglet in the heart of the defense.
Oscar Mingueza could continue on the right of the backline with Jordi Alba taking up his usual left-back slot.

There’s still no Pedri for Barca but Frenkie de Jong was back in training on Sunday which suggests he could make the squad for the trip to Ukraine.
It’s not clear if De Jong is fit enough to start but Barjuan could decide to continue with Nico Gonzalez and Gavi in any case as both youngsters impressed against Alaves.
Expect Sergio Busquets to lead the team out once again.
Attack

Ansu Fati was also back in training on Sunday and it’s thought the 19-year-old could be available to start after shaking off a minor knee injury.
Memphis Depay should continue in the starting XI, and it’s possible we could see Sergino Dest in a forward role once more.
Philippe Coutinho, Yusuf Demir and 19-year-old Ez Abde are also options in attack for Barcelona in Kiev.
Possible XI: Ter Stegen; Mingueza, Eric, Lenglet, Alba; Busquets, Nico, Gavi; Dest, Memphis, Ansu.
