More problems for the Catalan giants

Barcelona saw teenage striker Ansu Fati forced out of Saturday’s La Liga clash with Celta Vigo after picking up a hamstring injury in the first half.

The teenager had opened the scoring for Barcelona at Balaidos with a brilliant effort to bag his fourth goal of the season already.

Fati then needed treatment on his hand but was able to continue until he seemed to pull a muscle chasing after the ball. The striker went down holding the back of his leg and looked in some distress.

In fact there was no hiding his frustration and disappointment as he was forced to hobble on before half-time and was replaced by Alejandro Balde.

Barcelona also replaced Eric Garcia with Ronald Araujo at the break after the defender suffered some discomfort, while Nico Gonzalez asked be taken off in the second half.

The Catalans offered a bit of detail about both injuries during the match.

The injuries mean more problems for Barcelona and Spain with Garcia and Fati surely set to drop out of Luis Enrique’s squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.

It’s not clear yet how serious any of the injuries are, but the international break does give the trio some time to recover before Barca’s next game on November 20 against Espanyol.
