Barcelona director travels to Brazil to secure Lucas Lima, Yerry Mina transfers - Report

Wait, is this really happening?

We told you on Tuesday that Barcelona were interested in signing Brazilian midfielder Lucas Lima on a free transfer, but that was just a rumor. But according to a report in Spain, there may be something to it.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Barça director Raul Sanllehí has traveled to Brazil and will arrive in the country on Wednesday night. Sanllehí has been the "Brazil guy" in the Barça board, the man they trust to come to the land of samba and sign some really good players.

And according to MD's report, Sanllehí has his eye on two players: Lucas Lima and Yerry Mina. Lima is the dynamic midfielder we spoke about that could be joining the club on a free transfer in January, and Yerry Mina is the most exciting news.

The Colombian is without a doubt the best center-back in South America right now, and there is a deal in place between Barça and Palmeiras that would have Mina join the Catalans after next year's World Cup for an €8 million transfer fee. However, according to the report, the feeling among the board is that Mina would be a great addition to Ernesto Valverde's squad right now, so Sanllehí has traveled to Brazil to try and secure an immediate deal for Mina.

Palmeiras would want around €12 million to let Yerry go this summer, sources told Barca Blaugranes, and that is something Barça are prepared to pay. Mina would join Gerard Piqué, Samuel Umtiti, Javier Mascherano and Marlon Santos in the Blaugrana defense, with Jérémy Mathieu set to leave for either Turkey or Portugal.

So to recap: Sanllehí is in Brazil to make sure Lucas Lima will sign a pre-contract in July ahead of his January move, as well as trying to persuade both Palmeiras and Yerry Mina that a move to Catalonia this summer is a good idea.

We'll have more developments of this soon.
