The wait continues...
Barcelona president Joan Laporta met with Ronald Koeman on Tuesday evening but it seems no decision has yet been made about the coach’s future at the club.
Koeman and his agent Rob Jansen attended the meeting along with Laporta, vice president Rafael Yuste and director of football Mateu Alemany.
The meeting only lasted about half an hour and ended without a decision, although more meetings are expected within the next few days, according to multiple reports.
It seems Tuesday’s meeting was used to discuss the 2020-21 season, particularly the last few weeks when Barca’s title charge fizzled out with some poor results.
All of which means we are still no clearer to finding out if Koeman will stay on and see out his contract at the Camp Nou that runs until 2022.
Koeman did look on the brink after the 3-3 draw with Levante, but the lack of an obvious candidate to take over and rumors of Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum coming to Barca suggest it’s not out of the question he will stay on.
There has been speculation that Laporta is keen to get the matter sorted quickly and wants to make a decision within a week, so while it’s still not clear what’s going on we may not have to wait too much longer for an answer.
