The midfielder is also set for talks with Joan Laporta
Barcelona have reportedly activated a clause in Riqui Puig’s contract to extend his current deal until June 2023.
The midfielder is also set for talks with club president Joan Laporta about the future after a tough season where he has spent most of his time on the bench.
The news comes from Fabrizio Romano:
Barcelona have officially triggered Riqui Puig’s clause to extend his contract until June 2023. Riqui wants to stay at Barça after the club turned down two loan proposals in January. He’s gonna talk about it with Joan Laporta once the manager situation is decided. #FCB

There are plenty of players expected to leave this summer, but it seems Puig may not be one of them if Romano’s update proves correct.
Laporta is said to be a big fan of Puig’s and has reportedly been pretty unimpressed by the way he’s been treated by Koeman this season.
The Dutchman’s future is far from secure at the moment and he is also set for talks with Laporta now the season has come to an end.
It’s tricky to see Puig playing much if Koeman does stay on, given how this season has gone, but a new coach coming in could be a big opportunity for the youngster.
