Dest nominated for US Male Player of the Year 2020

The youngster’s on a six-man shortlist

Sergino Dest has officially been nominated for the best US Soccer Player of the Year. He joins fellow European bound players Tyler Adams of RB Leipzig, Christian Pulisic of Chelsea, and Weston McKennie of Juventus. MLS men Gyasi Zardes of the Columbus Crew and Jordan Morris of the Sounders were also nominated.

Dest has been a really solid player for Barcelona so far this season. He spent years at Ajax youth system before gaining his debut in 2018. He impressed in the next two seasons and was able to secure a move to Barcelona in October.

The favorites for this award are likely Pulisic and Dest. Pulisic is obviously a fan favorite, but Dest playing at Barca alongside Messi is a great story as well. This’ll be interesting to follow.
