Brilliant first half followed by a slower second half.
Irish Goat’s Gamboling Goleadores!
Oh, what an entertaining match! What a terrific sight it is to see a team that has struggled tactically this season finally have a game with modified tactics, and enjoying their success. Yes, there are things that still need to be addressed, but it is encouraging to see our coaches, who frankly were having a hard time of it on occasions this season, come up with a working scheme with the same players they’ve had available all season. Regrettably, the injury bug keeps sidelining some of our players and complicating things, so we will see how the players and coaches react to pull it off in the final stretch of the season. I thoroughly enjoyed the formation employed against Sevilla and how, as a result, Barcelona utterly dominated the match.
At different points this season Barcelona have had games where they were completely on top of the opposition, without the smallest sliver of a doubt, and played terrific football. Yet most of those breathtaking performances had the small caveat of being against less than stellar opposition. It is, therefore, tremendously pleasing to see such a beautiful game played against such a good team. I understand Sevilla has struggled the last few games, but it is still a very good team under a creative, skillful coach.
You guys ever saw that Adam Sandler movie with Drew Barrymore where she has short-term memory loss? I mean, it was kinda big…well, this dude spent most of the movie getting her to fall in love with him again and again. That’s Barcelona for me. Just when I think I can’t love them more, they pull a game like this. If I were a strong, confident woman, and Barcelona were a man, that dude would be getting some sweet, sweet loving on the regular. And Lionel Richie style, too. I mean, jeez, did you see Luisito’s goal?
1st Goleador: MSN
I have to do this again and have all three of them in the top spot. There is just no way it could go down any other way. Truth be told, yes, Messi was probably better than Ney and Luisito, but first, it wasn’t by that large a margin, and second, there would be few times any other player could crack the top spot if I gave it to Messi every single time. Therefore, as a unit, these three players had an insane performance.
2nd Goleador: Iniesta and Rakitić
Iniesta was vintage Iniesta and Rakitić had a second incredible performance in a row. Iniesta was the dominating force in the mid, driving players insane with his perfect change of pace. For all it’s worth, I think Iniesta’s change of pace is the most impeccable I’ve ever seen. And then, Raki had a terrific performance on that right flank in support of Sergi Roberto. He could have easily had two goals if they had passed him the ball on the instances where he was COMPLETELY alone in front of the goal.
3rd Goleador: Sergi Roberto
He was once seen playing Rachmaninoff’s piano concerto number 3 while blindfolded.
Visca Barça!
