The Chinese league is completely out of control at the start of 2016. They have spent more than any other league on the planet to sign footballing stars on giant contracts. Their transfer window does not close for the next 16 days, and the teams have not stopped making huge signings.
After clearing out the Brazilian market's best players, they went to Europe, making a splash with the transfers of Chelsea midfielder Ramires, Roma winger Gervinho, Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarín, Atlético Madrid striker Jackson Martínez, and most recently Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira.
Now, they want a Barcelona player. And according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, that player is star full-back Dani Alves. The 32-year-old reportedly received a 2-year, €24 million salary offer, along with an offer to pay Dani's release clause to lure Barça into selling.
And this is exactly how China works. They make a ridiculous, unstoppable salary offer to the player, pay the release clause and take the player. It's quick and brutal. But the athletes can obviously say no to the proposal, and that seems to be the case with Alves.
If they fail to land the Brazilian, the Chinese have a Plan B: Arda Turan, the Turkish midfelder who arrived at Barça last summer but only made his debut in January. He has adapted to the squad perfectly, already becoming a key player in Luis Enrique's rotation. Turan is rumored to be offered the same contract as Alves.
China is determined to get people's attention this year. They might if they get a Blaugrana.
