Report: Olympique Marseille to Sign Alexandre Song

Systeme Tchakap's era is coming to an end

It's well-documented that Alexandre Song is no longer part of Barcelona's plans. Finally, he has somewhere to go.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, his destination is Olympique de Marseille of France. Marseille's coach, Marcelo Bielsa, has expressed his interest in the 26-year-old. The French wanted another midfielder, Montpellier's Benjamin Stambouli, but the negotiations have gone south. Therefore, Olympique wants the Cameroon international to be part of their squad. Marseille is offering €5 million and Barcelona are most likely going to accept the proposal.

Alex Song came to Barça from Arsenal two seasons ago, and his solid showing at the Gunners was never replicated at the Catalan side. Bought initially as the backup to Sergio Busquets, Song became just a bench warmer, playing smaller games, and performing poorly in most of them. His worst match is possibly Barça's loss against Granada, right after the Blaugrana got kicked off the Champions League. Playing as a DM, Song was completely lost, forcing Javier Mascherano to do double duty, as a center-back and the initiator of offense in the midfield, while Song just stayed there, watching.

Let's hope he has a bright future wherever he goes. We'll never forget Systeme Tchakap. Best of luck, Lord Song.
