Andoni Zubizarreta: 'We'll take opportunities as they come'

He's not ruling out signing new people.

Marc-André Ter Stegen, Claudio Bravo, Jeremy Mathieu, Thomas Vermaelen, Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suárez, Rafinha Alcântara (back from loan), Gerard Deulofeu (back from loan). As things stand right now, these are the new Barcelona signings. But, according to Barça's sporting director, Andoni Zubizarreta, more transfers could be on the way.

He spoke briefly at the press conference that officially presented Vermaelen as a Blaugrana, and talked about the possibility of new signings, as well as the Dani Alves situation:

"We are happy with the players we have, but if an opportunity arises, we'll take it. If nothing else comes up, we're satisfied with the squad, and that we gave the coach the best options as he goes into the new season.

Afellay? I want to thank him for everything he has brought to the Club and wish him all the best for the future.

Alves? At no moment have we spoken to Alves about leaving and we have not received any offers for him . He’s a Barça player and there is no more to say".

This is interesting. Alves' departure, according to Zubi, was never considered, contradicting every report that said Luis Enrique had scratched the Brazilian off his list.

As far as the signings go, the priority is very simple: right-back. If Juan Cuadrado doesn't really come, there's a new alternative, as we reported on Sunday: Lukasz Piszczek, the talented full-back from Borussia Dortmund. There are still 20 days to go in the transfer window, so Zubi won't rush anything, as he has covered all areas asked by Lucho.

We'll see what happens.
