FC Barcelona and Rest of Group F React to Champions League Draw

Different points of view.

FC Barcelona's Road to Berlin starts with a tricky group stage, as the Catalan side has been drawn with Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax and APOEL at the UEFA event on Thursday.

Representatives from all four teams spoke right after the draw, and they have different views on their chances to move on to the knockout phase. Here's what they said.

Andoni Zubizarreta, FC Barcelona Sporting Director:

"The PSG matches will be spectacular. We'll be playing a huge institution and a great team.

We'll play three completely different styles, and that will be a challenge for us. All of the matches should be tough, and all 32 teams have equal chances of winning."

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Paris Saint-Germain Director:

"We have been getting better every year, and I feel like this season we are stronger than before. This is our third straight UCL appearance, we are very motivated and I think we can get through the quarter-finals. Barcelona is always a difficult rival, but we are confident."

Laurent Blanc, Paris Saint-Germain Coach:

"Barcelona needs no introduction. You already know it is one of the greatest teams in the world. That's why both matches are going to be decided in the details. We have to pick our spots and take advantage of their mistakes. We need to be efficient.

Ajax is a team with great youngsters, and they have dominated their league for many years, you can't take them for granted.

APOEL is a team that has played in Europe for many years, but we need to win all six points against them."

Constantinos Charalambides, APOEL captain: "This is a very tough draw for us. We face three sides with rich traditions in world football, but we still see this as a great moment for us. It will be a challenging experience for the players, the coaching staff, the board and of course our fans."

Frank de Boer, Ajax coach: "When our goal is to reach the next stage, it is tough when you draw Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. With these teams it will be very difficult to finish first or second in the group."

Barça starts their quest for a fifth Champions League title on September 17, at Camp Nou, against APOEL.
