The club chief has played down talk of a move
Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste has played down suggestions the Catalans could try and land Erling Haaland next summer.
The Borussia Dortmund superstar is a wanted man due to his prolific goalscoring exploits in Germany and Barca are one of several clubs regularly linked with a move.
Barca CEO Ferran Reverter offered supporters hope this week that the club could be able to bring in superstars next summer but Yuste doesn’t seem so sure.
“I prefer to be governed by the principle of prudence. We come from a situation of a huge economic crisis, therefore prudence,” he said.
“I do not see Haaland [signing] happening now. From now to next year we will see what the situation is and what we can do in terms of signings.
“First we have to lay the foundations of a house that we have found in ruins, so let’s focus first on fortifying it.
“Let’s feed those at home first and then we’ll see what else we can do, without losing sight of the fact that we always want to have the best, and Haaland is one of the best in the world.”

Haaland clearly won’t lack for offers if he does decide the time is right to move on in 2022 and is likely to have his pick of Europe’s top clubs. Barca’s financial situation should hopefully look a lot healthier then but the Catalan may still struggle to compete financially after years of mismanagement.
