A chance for revenge at the Camp Nou

Barcelona were back in training on Friday to prepare for Sunday’s La Liga clash with Cadiz at the Camp Nou.

Ronald Koeman had given his players two days off after their midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League but the whole squad were back to work on Friday.

Barca are still without several players due to injury with Ronald Araujo, Sergi Roberto, Ansu Fati, and Philippe Coutinho still sidelined and not part of the session.

Gerard Pique did take part in Friday’s work-out and does not appear to have suffered any reaction after making his first appearance since November in the Champions League defeat.

Barca head into the match against Cadiz on a run of seven straight wins in La Liga and with Koeman reportedly urging his side to shrug off the midweek disappointment.

Mundo Deportivo report the Dutchman had a message of “no surrender” for his players and has urged his team not to give up on the 2020-21 season just yet despite big setbacks in Europe and the Copa del Rey.

AS also report that Koeman had a motivational speech before training on Friday and told his squad: “We can still do great things this year, but the main thing now is to turn the page, look forward and keep growing.”

Barca will need to produce some stirring comebacks in all three competitions if they are to avoid another trophyless campaign. Yet they have been offered a glimmer of hope in La Liga where Atletico have dropped points against Levante and Celta Vigo and are about to head into a tough run of games.

The Catalans’ fixture list looks much kinder, on paper at least, with Cadiz up next followed by games against Elche, Sevilla, Osasuna and Huesca in La Liga.
