FC Barcelona News: 18 April 2016; Barça lose to Valencia, Lionel Messi reaches milestone

Despite utterly dominating possession from start to finish of Sunday night’s game versus Valencia at Camp Nou and just missing out on several sterling scoring chances, it was the visitors who were a model of efficiency, finding the net on their only two shots on target in the first half before hanging on late for a 2–1 victory.
Game after game, the best player in the world continues to demonstrate his greatness. With his strike against Valencia on Sunday, Lionel Messi has now reached the 450-goals mark for FC Barcelona.
Football is not just about skill. Mentality, morale and a number of other factors also come into play, not to mention a little bit of luck now and again. There is no denying that Barça have been lacking in the latter department of late, and the amazing trident we could always count on to conjure up goals out of nothing have been struggling to do what they do best. Put the ball in the back of the net.
Faced with perhaps the most adversity in his almost two full seasons as FC Barcelona’s manager, Luis Enrique Martínez continues to stay the course, keeping the steadiest of keels and exhibiting his trademark sanguineness, an uncompromising optimism where most other men in his position would be frantically grabbing for alternate explanations.
"We have no margin for error, we have no cushion left," said Gerard Piqué after FC Barcelona lost to Valencia, 2–1, at Camp Nou on Sunday night. Nevertheless, "on a normal day we would have won four to one."
With no time to rest after the 2-1 defeat at home to Valencia on Sunday, the FC Barcelona players were back at the training ground on Monday morning as they began preparations for the first of the five remaining fixtures in the league, a visit to Deportivo on Wednesday evening at 8.30pm CET.
