Barcelona are reportedly interested in the PSG attacker and the Atletico Madrid defender.
Two new rumors are rumbling as Barcelona get closer to entering a normal summer transfer window, finally.
The first comes from Get French Football News. Argentine attacking midfielder Javier Pastore has been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain to another big club, with Barcelona candidates alongside Chelsea, Manchester City, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
Pastore has been rumored to be in for a move to the Camp Nou before, as early as 2011, when he was at Palermo and ultimately left for PSG. (Barcelona opted for signing Alexis Sanchez then.)
Could he be a replacement for Arda Turan, if the Turk leaves for China? Maybe, but call me skeptical at the moment.
The next rumor comes from Barcelona paper Mundo Deportivo. Everyone knows Real Madrid are in for José María Giménez, but there's one big problem with acquiring him: Atletico Madrid does not want to sell to their crosstown rivals. Atleti has pointed firmly to the 65 million euro clause if Real want to make the purchase.
However, they would be willing to negotiate with Barcelona for a more reasonable price, or at least, so the rumor goes.
While obviously, Giménez is a really talented young defender and Barcelona clearly need one, there's a question to be asked if his passing is up to the standard Barcelona want. Also, if they are OK with acquiring a right-footed defender, considering Gerard Pique is an undisputed starter. Then again, Marquinhos of PSG and Everton's John Stones, two defenders rumored to interest Barcelona, are also right-footed.
What do you think?
