Barcelona vs Atlético Madrid, 2016 Champions League: All Updates

Now that El Clásico is over and Barcelona is still in great position to win La Liga even with a loss, it is time to completely focus on the UEFA Champions League and the huge quarterfinal matchup against Atlético Madrid, with the first leg happening on Wednesday at Camp Nou.

When this tie was drawn a few weeks ago, coach Diego Simeone had a giant headache, for two reasons: he cannot find a way to beat Luis Enrique - six straight losses since the Barça coach took over - and he had a team full of injuries, especially in the defense, the strongest and most impressive piece of Cholo's team.

But as time went on and the players took time during the international break to heal and prepare to be at the Catalan capital, the problems are nearly over, and Simeone can still line up a great squad for Tuesday night. That is also the case with Enrique, who has no major injuries to worry about but misses an important member of the team.

This is the full injury report for the Camp Nou match:

Player (Team) Injury Status
Jérémy Mathieu (Barcelona) Knee Out
Adriano Correia (Barcelona) Hamstring Out
Sandro Ramírez (Barcelona) Hamstring Out
Tiago (Atlético) Leg Out
Jesús Gámez (Atlético) Calf Doubtful
José Giménez (Atlético) Hamstring Out
Óliver Torres (Atlético) Groin Out
Ferreira Carrasco (Atlético) Hamstring Probable

One player was in the list up until Sunday, but will be back and his the most important return for Simeone: defender Diego Godín, one of the best on the planet, received the medical green light after a muscle issue and will start at Camp Nou. His partner at Atlético and the Uruguayan national team, José Giménez, did not recover in time from his injury and will not play.

There are no suspensions, so apart from the eight players above, all stars will be ready for the big game.
