Dani Alves leaves Barcelona cause for regret - Sid Lowe - ESPN FC
Even if, at his age, it might be time for Alves to move on; even if the money he wants to stay is far, far, far too much; even if there was something a bit suspicious, cynical even, about the fact that his best performances came when he was trying to persuade Barcelona to give him a new contract; even if there have been times when he has momentarily let himself go; even if his crossing was sometimes so bad as to be comic, when he does go they should not celebrate his departure. Especially not now.

Barcelona's historic run has taken Champions League back to its roots | Fusion
But as the European season reaches its final battle, it’s all about the present. Ancelotti is no longer in a job, while Enrique’s army is tearing things up, breaking records and winning La Liga and Copa del Rey trophies. If it beats Juve at the Olympic Stadium this weekend, it will record its 50th win of a season which was under attack and close to retreating five months ago.

Luis Suárez’s European journey finds its apex at last in Champions League final | The Guardian
With Lionel Messi going inside and Suárez seeking space out of his way, the pieces hadn’t fallen into place. By the turn of the year, Suárez had scored just three times. Since then, he has scored 21. He scored the winner against Real Madrid, a goal that set up the title. He scored twice in Manchester against City and twice in Paris against PSG, both of them superb goals preceded by brilliant nutmegs.

Champions League final pits Barcelona and Juventus in face-off for history - ESPN FC
In a way, it's a fitting backdrop for this Champions League final between two clubs with proud -- and in many ways divergent -- histories that have embraced the globalized game. Among the factors that most define modern football is the ability to adapt and absorb change. Just as the city that hosts their showdown Saturday has learned to do.

Barcelona and Juventus Champions League win for treble - ESPN FC
"We are 90 minutes from perfection." That is really the defining theme of this showpiece between Barcelona and Juventus. One side will win it all, given that both are aiming for a treble. The Catalans are aiming to become the first club to win a second treble, and those greater stakes are mirrored in the way they are considered by far the greater team.

Paul Pogba talent will be tested when Juve play Barca UCL - ESPN FC
Paul Pogba knows he is more than a footballer. He is a commodity, a plus sign on a balance sheet -- and a hefty one at that. It is nothing new. He is 22 years old, and from the time he turned 14, he changed clubs three times. Each time, there was acrimony, controversy and bile. Not directed at him so much, but more fueled by the notion that a prize asset was slipping through a club's fingers for far less than it was worth.

According to the Juve boss, "every player will give his all, it’s a unique experience and a defining game."

Patrice Evra says he never called Luis Suarez racist - ESPN FC
"I don't want his apologies," Evra said. "It doesn't matter, it's no problem for me. He will never be my best friend, but this is not a problem. When we are going to play the game, I will shake his hand. "The past is the past. I am really proud of my colour and I will shake his hand like I did with Manchester when we play against Liverpool. My game is against Barcelona, it is not against Luis Suarez."
