Report: Barcelona to push hard for Juventus star in 2016

Interesting day in terms of transfer rumors for Barcelona.

Earlier today we talked about a report from Mundo Deportivo that suggested that Barça could line up a swoop for Real Madrid's Isco. MD is also reporting today that the Blaugrana will push hard to land another promising midfielder in 2016, once Barça's transfer ban is over.

It's Juventus stud Paul Pogba. The 21-year-old central mid has improved tremendously every year he's played at the Serie A, and his name has been linked to all of the biggest European clubs, especially Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Real Madrid. Now, Barça will join those three powerhouses on the race for the France international, and according to MD, they'll make a hard, audacious push.

But is it a good idea to make a strong effort to land this talented youngster?

Why This is a Good Idea

Simple because Pogba is a spectacular player that every team should have. His defensive skills are outstanding, and year after year his offensive game is expanded. Lately, Pogba has evolved as a passer. This season will be his best in every major passing category (accuracy, volume, assists) if he maintains the current pace.

Oh, and he can strike from outside. Don't take my word for it:

This is simply ridiculous, and this facet of his game could be a perfect fit for Barça, who still needs a consistent outside threat when teams park the bus and crowd the box.

Defensively, Pogba will have no problem in terms of covering space behind the full-backs in Luis Enrique's current system. He is really capable of doing anything he wants. And the craziest thing is: he's only 21. Nuts.

Why This is a Bad Idea

Because Barça already has one of the most promising defensive mids in the world: Sergi Samper. That kid is the future, and almost a guaranteed starter once the Sergio Busquets Era is over. Samper is like Breaking Bad: you know it's going to be good from the start and you have to give it the spotlight for it to carry your network for five seasons. SAY MY NAME: SAMPER.

So if Barça really push for Pogba, they're going to ignore one of Barça B's best products. Sure, it's nice to have a guy as good as Pogba, but he certainly would take Samper's spot when the Mini-Busquets is the clear choice for that position's future.

Let's hope the report is not accurate, so we can transition to the Samper Era without any distractions.
