TALK ABOUT AN ANNIHILATION!
When Barcelona is not involved, I honestly have to say that watching Atlético Madrid is the funniest ride in football today. They're amazing to watch, which is crazy when you analyze them and see that they actually play an ugly brand of football. But it doesn't matter. It's efficient and they win games.
And sometimes, their brand of football just overwhelms the opposition and the Colchoneros go off into a complete destruction of their adversary. And that happened today against Real Madrid. It wasn't cute for the Blancos. They were dominated from beginning to end, didn't have any reaction to Atleti's 90-minute blitz, and conceded four goals in a historical night at Vicente Calderón.
Atlético swept the La Liga series against Real for the first time since the 1950-51 season, and Saturday's victory happened in style. With goals from Tiago, Saúl, Griezmann and Mandzukic, they showed why their rythm and intensity are just too much for Madrid to cope with.
Real Madrid is winless in 6 games vs Atlético this season, & has won 29 of 31 vs other teams. http://ift.tt/1AFQsid

This win is not just good for Atlético fans, but it also helps Barcelona's life tremendously. Not only do we have a chance to mock Real and Ronaldo forever, but it helps the Blaugrana's chances in the race for the La Liga title as well. If Barça are able to enter San Mamés and survive Athletic Bilbao with a win, the Catalans will cut Madrid's lead to two points.
If both teams continue to win all games until they meet again in Round 28, a simple Barça win in El Clásico would give them first place in the standings and a strong chance to reclaim the league trophy.
The San Mamés Battle will really be tough for Luis Enrique and his band, but until tomorrow night, let's celebrate how great it is to see Atlético Madrid playing football. Oh, and also, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA REAL MADRID
