FC Barcelona News: 5 November 2014; Players Train at Amsterdam Arena, Ready to Return to Winning Ways

Four things we've learned so far about Luis Enrique's Barcelona | ESPN FC

To say that there is only one defining reason for the above would be facile. But it's central that Enrique has not (yet) opted either to re-embrace and revitalize the playing style that has dominated the past 25 years at the Camp Nou or, instead, move firmly and completely away from it to install a clear, comprehensible, identifiable playing philosophy of his own.

AFC Ajax v FC Barcelona: Reaction time | FC Barcelona

This Wednesday's clash in Amsterdam at 20.45 PM CET is sure to be atypical. FC Barcelona's fourth match in this year's UEFA Champions League group stage is shaping up to be something special. Perhaps most importantly, it is an opportunity for the team to take home three more points and bring them ever closer to qualifying for the round of 16.

Luis Enrique: "Winning would be a big step forward" | FC Barcelona

After recent negative results, Luis Enrique confirmed that "being able to compete again after just three days is positive" and he added that he felt his players were "relaxed going into the game." Following on from that he added that "we are used to the pressure", and that winning in the Amsterdam Arena "would be a giant step forward with regards to making it through to the last 16."

First Contact with the Amsterdam Arena | FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona trained this Tuesday evening at the Amsterdam Arena. It was the first contact with the playing surface for Luis Enrique's 20 man squad. The session took place with the pitch in excellent condition and in temperatures rather lower than in Barcelona. Ajax's stadium is all ready for the game with the pennants already placed in the seats of the Dutch ground in readyness for kick-off.

Luis Suárez: "This game brings back good memories" | FC Barcelona

He made his debut in the Bernabéu and he played against Celta; he created Neymar’s goal against Real Madrid and he worked tirelessly against the Galicians. Little by little Luis Suárez is finding his feet at FC Barcelona. Now it is time to turn attentions to the Champions’ League – against no other than Ajax, the team with whom he made his debut in the competition. "I feel good, looking forward to playing and is always the case for professionals. This game brings back good memories."

Frank de Boer demands best game in Ajax history | FC Barcelona

Ajax Amsterdam manager Frank De Boer spoke to the press today about his second meeting with FC Barcelona in less than a fortnight, commenting that he does not believe that the 3-1 scoreline from the first game will condition his approach on Wednesday night.

Gareth Bale fit to start for Real Madrid against Rayo Vallecano | Eurosport

Bale showed no signs of the muscle injury that had kept him out for a month, looking lively down the right wing and he also struck the woodwork as Real cruised past Liverpool and booked a place in the Champions League last 16 with a 1-0 win.

Karim Benzema scores only goal as Real Madrid edge out Liverpool | Sky Sports Football

Karim Benzema scored the only goal as a much-changed Liverpool fell to a 1-0 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Benzema converted Marcelo’s left-wing cross after 27 minutes to move the hosts on to 12 points in Group B and book their place in the knockout phase, while Liverpool remain third on three points.

Atletico Madrid moved closer towards a place in the knockout stages | Sky Sports Football

Diego Simeone's men were unable to repeat the performance which saw them hammer the Swedes 5-0 last time out, but goals from Koke and Raul Garcia were enough to earn the Primera Division side their third successive win which moves them clear at the top of the group. It was a heart-wrenching result for the home side, though, who had battled bravely at Malmo New Stadium but lacked the fortune needed to see off last season's beaten finalists.
