The ‘Japanese Messi’ has signed for Los Blancos
FC Barcelona’s La Masia academy is known for producing great talents. It’s ability to develop players and let them train, grow, and eventually flourish is what makes it special. However, sometimes things can go sideways and don’t go the way of the club.
In the case of Takefuso ‘Take’ Kubo, things REALLY didn’t go Barcelona’s way. The La Masia prospect was thought to be the ‘Japanese Messi’ and someone who Barcelona were looking to long term. Now, he’s on his way to Real Madrid to play for Castilla.
According to Sport, Real Madrid matched the financial ask from Kubo, giving him the €1m per season he requested. They included a clause stipulating that Kubo would be a part of the senior squad in his second season there, while things with Barcelona weren’t progressing negotiation wise fast enough. All in all, Real cleaned Barcelona’s clock when it came to negotiating and signing Kubo.
