The Barcelona manager spoke on Monday prior to the European Cup kickoff
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique spoke to the press on Monday ahead of the Catalan giants' Champions League opener against Celtic, Tuesday at Camp Nou. Enrique hopes to forget the embarrassing loss to Alavés last weekend with a big performance against the Scottish champions, but the coach knows it won't be an easy game.
"We're facing a historic European club. I've seen [Brendan Rodgers] here a few times, studying our youth teams and watching the first team. I admire the brand of football his teams play. The fact this is a rival we played in pre-season [Barcelona won 3-1 in Dublin in July] helps us a little bit when it comes to studying them and trying to work out how they might play. But let's be clear, there'll be a big difference in the intensity of this match compared to a warm-up friendly."

Even though the press conference was about Celtic, Enrique had to answer plenty of questions about the disappointing loss against Alavés last Saturday, as well. He didn't want to reveal what he said to the players (obviously), but Lucho does see the need for improvement and hopes to achieve a better performance as soon as possible.
"We have a talk after every game about what happens on the pitch. That’s something between the staff and players, we do it over 60 times per season. We always have things to improve after wins and losses.
“I was clear after the game that we were moving in the right direction. But it’s not an exact science and you can win or lose. We want to identify the problems and find the solutions. Football is so complex, anything can happen."
