Even though his individual contribution was key, Barcelona's top scorer is still thinking about the team.
Luis Suárez spoke to the press right after he scored the two goals in Barça's 2-1 comeback victory against Atlético Madrid on Tuesday to give his team the advantage in the Champions League quarterfinals. The Uruguayan did not have his best performance up until the moment he scored, but he was the star of the show in the end.
However, El Pistolero is not praising himself, instead he looks at the entire team's contribution, and he wants to see that same type of performance in the second leg next week in Madrid:
"The return will be a similar game to today’s. But we are relaxed as we they will be obliged to [attack to] win the game. If we score one, they will have to score two.
"Obviously a sending off in the first will affect the game, even more when it’s a great player. Everyone knows his quality, but he made two heavy fouls. It was a pity - I would have liked to come back with 11.
"We knew there would be not much space, and I needed to stay close to the area to convert what I could. I had the luck to score twice, but that’s why I am here, to help the team.
"It was a difficult game from the start, knowing the strategy of Atletico. We could have scored another goal. The important thing is we won and they will need to score a goal there [in Madrid]."
