FC Barcelona stayed true to their billing as a team endowed with a heaping dose of resilience, valiantly bouncing back from Saturday’s stinging home league defeat to emerge victorious on the very same pitch in a good old-fashioned Champions League thriller, with two goals from Luis Suárez leading Barça back from an early one-goal deficit to beat ten-man Atlético Madrid, 2–1, in the first leg of the quarter-finals on Tuesday night at Camp Nou.
Having just taken his seat at the podium following FC Barcelona’s come-from-behind, 2–1 victory over Atlético Madrid in Tuesday’s first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals at Camp Nou, blaugrana manager Luis Enrique, aware that his team had just dodged a bullet, took a deep breath and exhaled.
FC Barcelona took a solid first step in the quarterfinals of the Champions League after winning 2-1 over Atlético Madrid in the first leg played at Camp Nou. Luis Suárez’s two second-half goals were the key to victory.
Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano was relieved to take an important win from the first leg of his side's Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid.
Marca reports Bartomeu speaking to Brazilian publication Globoesporte and denying reports from France’s L’Equipe that said Paris Saint-Germain were willing to trigger Neymar’s €193m clause.
