Barcelona reportedly add four Dutch prospects to club's scouting network

The Dutch influence on Barcelona's history of success is undeniable, and the club might be looking into a few players from the Netherlands to have an impact again.

Blaugrana sporting director Robert Fernández traveled to Amsterdam this week to watch the UEFA EURO qualifying match between the Netherlands and Czech Republic. It was a horrible night for the Oranje, who lost 3-2 at home and failed to qualify for the tournament next season. But Fernández wasn't interested in the result. He wanted to watch some kids.

According to reports from Spain, Robert has four very young players in mind, all of them from Ajax: Jairo Riedewald, a left-footed defender who can also play as a left-back, did feature for 40 minutes, and is already believed to be a target for next season. Anwar El Ghazi, one of the most exciting wingers in the Eredivisie, played for 70 minutes.

The other two, unfortunately for Robert, didn't get a chance to play: 18-year-old wonderkid Riechedly Bazoer and 22-year-old Davy Klaassen, both interior midfielders, were not called up to action, but have been on Barça's shortlist for a while.

With Robert's presence at the game, the speculations of a Blaugrana bid for the players have already started, but reports from Mundo Deportivo claim that this is only the beginning of the scouting process, and none of the youngsters are targets for the January transfer period. But the fact that an important Barça director took the time to personally watch the players certainly matters.
