As you may well be aware by now, FC Barcelona will return to the United States this summer to take part in the International Champions Cup, a pre-season tournament that has previously featured the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City. Their appearance stateside is sure to garner a lot of fan interest, irrespective of how the Blaugrana finish the season as fans across the Atlantic Ocean are granted a rare chance to see the likes of Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique in the flesh, squaring off against some of the best teams in the world.
This summer's tournament will pit FC Barcelona up against LA Galaxy, as the sole MLS representative in our schedule and will end with a match back in Europe against UEFA Europa League semi-finalists, AFC Fiorentina. However, it is the two matches in the middle of the competition that have stolen the headlines, as Barcelona will replay their 2009 and 2011 UEFA Champions League finals against Manchester United at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, before jetting off to FedEx Field and the nation's capital in Washington D.C. to take on rivals Chelsea FC.
With Washington's sports teams currently thriving in both the NBA and NHL play-offs courtesy of some sterling performances from John Wall and Alexander Ovechkin, the D.C. fans are used to seeing excellence and will be in for a treat, if previous matches between the Blaugrana and Chelsea are anything to go by.
And if you're one of the lucky Barcelona fans based in either California or Washington, then today is a special day, as tickets for these matches go on pre-sale exclusively with Ticketmaster from 10am PT. If you get yourself a ticket, why not comment below and see if we can get some Barca Blaugranes presence at the match.
