Barcelona target Paulo Dybala reportedly set to sign for Juventus

It seems like one of Barcelona’s potential transfer targets is not coming to Catalonia.

According to reports from Italy, Paulo Dybala, the talented Argentine striker, will stay in the Serie A after all, but he’s indeed moving away from Palermo. He is headed to the current Scudetto owners and UEFA Champions League finalists, Juventus, who have been silently working a deal with the 21-year-old for a while, at the same time when Barça and Arsenal were stealing the headlines.

Prominent Italian journalist Gianluca Dimarzio says in his blog that Dybala will sign a five-year contract with The Old Lady worth €2,2 million per season, plus performances bonuses. To Palermo, Juve will pay a package that could total €40 million: an initial €28 million fee, plus €8 million in performance bonuses and €4 million worth of player contracts.

Dybala was the preferred striker that sporting director Ariedo Braida had in mind for a potential signing, and the player was almost asking to be signed by Barça in some interviews.  But while the Blaugrana are dealing with other targets, Palermo decided to take the best and closest offer it had – from a local rival.

It’s not like we are depressed because of this, since we have the best scoring trio in club history, plus a very capable backup and more talented wingers and strikers being developed at Barça B. I’m not sure, but I think we’ll be ok in the goal-scoring department without Dybala.
