We're in the Final! Now what?
Barcelona is the first finalist of the 2014/15 edition of the UEFA Champions League. They'll go to Berlin after a stop in the Bavaria, where they booked a place in the Final after surviving the Allianz Arena despite losing 3-2 to Bayern Munich.
Now, the Blaugrana will watch the Wednesday second leg matchup between Real Madrid and Juventus, to be contested at Santiago Bernabéu. The Blancos are in serious trouble after losing 2-1 in Turin last week. Not so much because of the result, but in the manner in which they lost. They were outplayed, couldn't answer the strong physical game of the Old Lady and were somewhat lucky to get an important away goal from Cristiano Ronaldo.
They need a narrow 1-0 win to advance, and we all know they can score. But the biggest problem lies on the defense, and they'll have to deal with the always dangerous pairing of Carlos Tévez and Álvaro Morata, the free-kick freak that is Andrea Pirlo, and the return of midfield monster Paul Pogba, who recovered from his hamstring injury just in time to play in the second leg.
Carlo Ancelotti will not have Luka Modric, the talented and intense central mid who would be the perfect guy to chase Pogba around. It will be a crazy game, and one that Barça fans and players will be watching closely.
So, who do we want in the Final? Facing Madrid would mean playing the first El Clásico in a Champions League decider, and a chance to win a potential treble against Barça's historical biggest rival. If the opponent is Juve, then Barça will face a confident, defensively-minded site that has the goods to at least have a good shot at stopping (or containing) the ‘MSN' trio.
No matter the opponent, Barça will go to Berlin with favorite status, and the chances to win their first UCL title in four years just keeps getting bigger. So close you can almost taste it.
