The Cantabrian’s days as Barcelona manager could be numbered
Quique Setién may not be coach of FC Barcelona for too much longer. Reports say he will meet club president Josep Maria Bartomeu today, amd although there is no guarantee that he will be dismissed during that meeting, one outlet is reporting the club is “openly considering” firing him.
Reporting from multiple sources agrees that the coach’s job is in danger, but so far only one goes as far as to say that the club already has plans to dismiss him. However, other reports still say that it is entirely possible that Setién could be dismissed shortly after the meeting.

⁉️ Al club no tenen clar que Setién hagi de continuar, es creu que Setién no s'imposa davant d'aquest vestidor.
Avui és dia de reunions, Bartomeu pot prendre decisions...

Generally speaking, it’s not expected that Bartomeu will fire him this weekend. That would allow Setién time to manage one last game for Barcelona, against Deportivo Alavés on Sunday.

Cadena SER says “it is not clear” if Setién will continue, while Cadena COPE says there are “doubts” that he will.
One ESPN reporter, however, is going further than saying Setién’s job is in danger. In fact, he is saying that Barcelona already have plans (although not definite) to fire Setién on Monday or Tuesday, after the last league match, and replace him with García Pimienta, who is currently busy helping Barcelona B play their play-off matches in hopes of achieving promotion.

FC Barcelona have a match against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League pending for August 8th. Players would have a week off before getting back to training in hopes of being ready to make a run in the Champions League. Napoli drew the first game in Italy, 1-1.
García Pimienta would take over in the immediate term to lead training sessions after Setién’s dismissal, but there’s a chance the board could opt for someone else to take over for those pivotal matches in Europe. García Pimienta is said to have the support of several people in Barcelona’s front office, but crucially, not that of Eric Abidal.
