The Inter Milan forward addressed criticism that he was distracted by transfer whispers
Lautaro Martínez has assured fans of Inter Milan he will be in full focus as the club tries to finish the Serie A season strongly and make an impression in the Europa League.
This comes as the striker has been accused of being distracted by incessant transfer rumors that link him with a move to Barcelona.
“I always try to give 110% for this club, for the people who love it, for the Nerazzurri shirt,” he said.
“I’m a kid who always fights, for my objectives, for those of the team, for the happiness of the fans.
“The games played one after another represent a huge physical and mental effort. It’s necessary to recover well and rest. [Manager Antonio] Conte gave me confidence, it’s a very important thing, fundamental, because he works on each one of us’s mentality. I really appreciate him, he makes us grow each day.”
The forward’s proposed move to Barcelona has been the biggest transfer saga of the summer for both clubs, even as football continues after the coronavirus delay.
Inter are technically still in contention for the Serie A title, but it seems highly unlikely for them to make up the ground on Juventus. Meanwhile, they are assured a UEFA Champions League spot for next season. However, they will still surely want to finish as high as possible to close the season out.
Afterwards, they will have to face Getafe in the Europa League round of 16.
