The coach was satisfied with his team
Ernesto Valverde professed himself happy with Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday.
A late goal from Luis Suarez rescued a point for Barca and maintained their unbeaten start to the season, after Saul Niguez had put Atletico ahead.
Barca needed good saves from Marc-Andre ter Stegen to avoid going further behind although Lionel Messi was unlucky not to score, hitting the woodwork.
Valverde admitted his team found it difficult to break Atleti down, particularly in the first half.
"We knew that if Atletico go ahead of an opponent they use their advantages well, it was difficult to overcome their defensive lines, but we had spirit and drive,” he said.
“We wanted to win but we'll take the point as a good one.
"In the first half we couldn't break through, in the second half we had more chances but were more exposed.
"It's true that Leo had some wear and tear because of the tension of the matches he has had to play, but we know that he always responds in any situation.
"He gave us a lot of effort and it was clear that when he got the ball, something good could happen for us."

Valverde’s substitutions certainly helped change the game, although the decision to start Andre Gomes was a perplexing one and the midfielder did little to impress.
The games come thick and fast for Barca now, with Olympiakos in the Champions League in midweek, followed by Malaga on Saturday and the Copa del Rey the following Tuesday.
