That’s 90 minutes of my life I’m never getting back.
Maybe the Ernesto Valverde haters have a point... Barcelona dropped points in the Champions League for the first time this season thanks to an awful 0-0 draw away to Olympiacos. The Blaugrana played poorly from start to finish, and wasted the few chances they had to score. Automatic qualification to the knockout stages is not guaranteed tonight, and the next game is in Turin against Juventus. Oh dear.
FIRST HALF
The first half was not pretty: there were a lot of misplaced passes and poor touches from almost every player on the pitch, and Barça didn’t have a real chance other than a through ball from Denis Suarez to Luis Suárez, who was in good position to score but couldn’t hit the target.
Barça enjoyed most of the possession but couldn’t break down a stubborn Olympiacos defense, and the Greek side managed to get through the entire first half without suffering too much. Lionel Messi wasn’t as bright, and his only change came on a free kick that was easily saved by the keeper.
At halftime, a poor game needed more intensity and quality from Barça to get the three points.
SECOND HALF
The second half was exactly like the first: Barça had the ball, Olympiacos parked the bus, Barça had one big chance, and Lionel Messi missed it. It really wasn’t a good performance, and things didn’t improve with Ivan Rakitic and André Gomes, who added physicality instead of creativity.
Olympiacos never really threatened Ter Stegen, and the game ended with a much deserved 0-0 draw. That’s 90 minutes of my life I’m never getting back.
