The defender is optimistic about the new season
Jordi Alba has called for calm after a chaotic summer for Barcelona which saw Neymar leave in a world-record move and the club linked with a whole host of players.
Barca failed to land their top targets Marco Verratti and Philippe Coutinho but did bring in Gerard Deulofeu, Paulinho, Nelson Semedo and Ousmane Dembele.
A frantic final few days of the transfer window saw Barca linked with seemingly dozens of players but ultimately the club decided to stick with what they already have.
However, the mood around the Camp Nou remains unsettled, a motion of no confidence against the board has been launched and Lionel Messi’s contract remains unsigned.
Yet Alba, currently on Spain duty, says many fears are unfounded and that the club still has a great squad, even without the departed Neymar.
"People comment, friends say things to you and the reality is that we're a club which everyone talks about, for better or for worse.
“The criticism should come when the season ends if the results aren't good. People get scared too quickly.
“I am happy with the team we have. It's given us a lot of joy and we have to continue that way. The end result won't depend on if one player or another comes, but best not to talk about it too much.
“I don't know if [this season] will be better or worse, let's see, but I am optimistic with the team we have."

Alba does have a valid point particularly as there is so much negativity surrounding the club.
Yet it’s worth remembering Barca have started the season with two wins and two clean sheets, Messi should still sign on and in Semedo and Dembele we have a couple of really exciting signings.
