Sevilla continues strong push
Real Betis shocked the world and spoiled Cristiano Ronaldo’s La Liga debut with a 1-0 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Former Barcelona youth player Tonny Sanabria scored an injury time winner as Los Blancos once again failed to win at home.
They’re now 7 points behind Barcelona in first place, after the Catalans’ comfortable 6-1 triumph against Eibar.
Meanwhile, Malaga turned in their worst performance of the season - and that’s saying something. They lost 5-0 to Valencia, who are looking like a strong team this season. Simone Zaza scored a hat trick, and Santi Mina and Rodrigo Moreno rounded out the scoring.
Malaga are dead last in La Liga with zero points and a -11 goal differential. Yikes.
Doing just about as poorly is Deportivo Alaves, who is not only without a point, but also without a goal. They lost again, this time 1-0 to Deportivo La Coruña, another team that was doing poorly this season. That win could prove to be a relegation battle six pointer in the long run.
Sevilla won their fourth straight, at home against Las Palmas. Jesus Navas got the only goal in a 1-0 victory at the Sanchez Pizjuan. They’re in second place and looking very strong.
Atletico Madrid remain undefeated and won again, 2-1 against Athletic Bilbao with goals from Angel Correa and Yannick Carrasco.
And in the last game of the matchday, Levante got an impressive win that catapulted them into fifth place, a 3-0 triumph over Real Sociedad with goals from Chema Rodriguez, Jose Luis Morales, and Enis Bardhi.
