We start the week with the latest gossip
New deals for Pique, Roberto & Deulofeu
We start today with news that Barcelona have opened talks with Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto and Gerard Deulofeu over contract extensions, according to Sport.
All three players’ contracts expire in 2019 but the club are keen to keep hold of the trio and avoid another Neymar situation.
That appears most likely with Deulofeu, who has a release clause of just €20m, and Roberto who’s clause is €40m.
However, both players have been told they are important members of the team and renewals are expected soon.
Man City to pay Roberto’s release clause
Barca may want to get a move on with Roberto’s new deal because Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are lurking, according to Don Balon.
Apparently Roberto wants to stay at Camp Nou but also wants a new deal that reflects his role at the club.
City, meanwhile, are willing to pay his release clause this winter with Guardiola keen to bring him to the Premier League.
Barca want Herrera & Ozil for free
Those Ander Herrera and Mesut Ozil rumors are refusing to go away with Don Balon reporting Barcelona remain interested.
Apparently Ernesto Valverde is keen on both players and wants to bring them in at little cost, with Mesut Ozil out of contract next summer and yet to extend.
Herrera will also be a free agent in the summer and, although he has said he wants to stay at Manchester United, is facing a real fight for regular football following the arrival of Nemanja Matic.
Coutinho chase back on
And finally it’s back to Sport who are simply refusing to give up on the idea of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona
The Brazilian still wants the move and Liverpool are apparently now contemplating letting him leave for the first time.
A deal could happen in January, even though Coutinho will be Champions League cup-tied, or next summer after talks between the Brazilian’s representatives and Liverpool owners FSG.
