But we are getting conflicting information.
Barcelona have identified two targets as possible replacements for the injured Aleix Vidal: Juanfran Moreno (Deportivo La Coruña) and Roberto Rosales (Málaga), according to Catalan daily Sport.
Some background information: Aleix Vidal is out for the season due to an ankle injury and Barcelona only count with Sergi Roberto at right-back. La Liga has a rule that allows Barcelona to sign an emergency replacement, but it can only be a Liga player or a free agent, and he can only play domestic competitions.
Barcelona did not plan on spending any money on this, and don’t seem to want to. However, the report says that the team considers both Juanfran and Rosales good options because they could be bought relatively cheaply, then sold if necessary for good value.
Sport also tells us that Luis Enrique wants a signing but the club is more hesitant, and that contact has begun with the two players. Juanfran’s cost would be 8 million euro, while Rosales would cost 6 million. Both are ready to take on the challenge, and both could either become a full-time part of the team going forward, or they could be sold in the summer to recoup most of the money.
However, the tune is different over at Mundo Deportivo. That paper tells us Barcelona making a signing is unlikely, and considering this player would only play maybe 7 games, it isn’t worth the trouble. This would be especially the case if Barcelona fall further adrift of Real Madrid, so perhaps the coming games could play a pivotal role. In any case, Barcelona only have until the beginning of the next month to decide.
