Disaster.
Barcelona got off to a very bad start in the UEFA Champions League knockouts thanks to a 4-0 loss in the first leg of the Round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes. The Blaugrana were absolutely ran over by a sensational PSG side, and have a nearly impossible deficit to overcome in the second leg, three weeks from now at Camp Nou.
FIRST HALF
From the very beginning, the hosts were on the front foot, pressuring Barça high up the pitch and troubling the Blaugrana passing, and the French forced Ter Stegen into plenty of big saves. But PSG were still able to score goals, first with a sensational free kick by Ángel Di María, and then with a goal from Julian Draxler on a killer counter attack.
At halftime, a domination from PSG, and there was a chance they could finish the tie in the first leg if Barça didn't improve in the final 45 minutes.
SECOND HALF
Things didn't change in the initial minutes of the second half. Barça continued to play badly and make some poor passing mistakes, and they paid for it again. Another counter attack, another spectacular goal from Ángel Di María, another goal for PSG.
The hosts had a three-goal lead and looked to avoid conceding an away goal to the Catalans, and maybe find a fourth on the counter. The strategy worked to perfection when Edinson Cavani scored and finished the game, and maybe even the tie.
